One bit of the BBC story that needs more scrutiny - and which might be the most important - is, why did Michael Grade look at the 'report' produced by Michael Prescott and demand the BBC act rather than, as an independent regulator would have done, toss it in the bin?

It doesn't follow that rejoining will give a 6-8% boost to GDP, as much of the hit came from uncertainty reducing business investment, & we mightn't get this back. If a man's been hit by a bus you don't restore him to health by reversing the bus.

14 Nov 1969, 'Sugar Sugar' by The Archies was at No.1 on the UK singles chart. The single was the longest running 1 hit wonder in the UK with 8 weeks at the top of the charts. It was the first No.1 performed by cartoon characters (actually session musicians). It also made No.1 in the US. #TheArchies

Well, yes, unions are a type of cartel. That's why striking works. As a retired NHS employee I will always support unions and always disapprove of a Health Secretary.
'Don't tell me you don't want to be out on strike - because that is exactly where you are. Own it.'

As resident doctors walk out again, Wes Streeting calls out the 'reprehensible and cartel-like behaviour' of their union.
