Sadly we said goodbye to David Soul, co-star of police drama "Starsky And Hutch", 2 years ago. David had four wives and six children, and finally settled in Britain after marrying Helen Snell in 2010 and obtaining British citizenship. He was a true Anglophile. #SilverLady #DavidSoul

Born 5 Jan 1946, actress #DianeKeaton. Amongst many roles, she starred as Annie Hall in an Oscar winning role in the movie of the same name. Ranking among the best films ever made, it's 31st on AFI's List of the greatest films in US cinema. She also starred in Something's Gotta Give, which I loved.

Released 4 Jan 1974, Manhole was the first solo album by Grace Slick. Slick drew all the artwork for the album, writing in the liner notes "Child Type Odd Art by Grace." The cover was a self-portrait displaying her new curly hairstyle, while the back cover was a portrait of the studio. #GraceSlick

Released 4 Jan 1971, Coal Miner's Daughter was the 16th solo studio album by US country music singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn. The title song would go on to become Lynn's signature song. The album and song's title would later be used for the name of Lynn's best-selling autobiography. #LorettaLynn

4 Jan 1970, chauffeur Neil Boland was accidentally killed when #KeithMoon ran over him in his Bentley. Moon was trying to escape from some skinheads after a fight started at a pub in Hatfield. Boland got out to protect the car but fell under the car and it started moving with Moon at the wheel.

Born 4 Jan 1958, US musician Lorna Doom. She was the bass guitarist for the punk rock band the Germs. She answered a flyer looking for "two untalented girls" with Belinda Carlisle. Their music was influential to many later punk rock acts. Lorna died of cancer, in Jan 2019, aged just 61. #LornaDoom

4 January 1986, rock legend, Phil Lynott died (aged just 36). He was a founding member, the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist for Thin Lizzy. He had collapsed at his home after a drink and drug binge on Christmas Day. He died In hospital from heart-failure. #PhilLynott #ThinLizzy

The best-selling UK single of 1976 was "Save Your Kisses for Me" by Brotherhood of Man, while in the US "Silly Love Songs" by Wings topped the Year-End Hot 100 chart for 1976. "Save Your Kisses for Me" sold over a million copies in the UK, whille "Silly Love Songs" became Paul's biggest US single.

3 January 1970 - B J Thomas started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' (written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David). The song, which was featured in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, won an Oscar for Best Original Song. #BJThomas

Actor John Thaw was born 3rd Jan 1942. His starring role as Inspector Jack Regan in The Sweeney was always a highlight for me. The programme title came from cockney rhyming slang "Sweeney Todd" to refer to the Flying Squad by London's criminal fraternity. He also played Inspector Morse. #JohnThaw

The Madcap Laughs (released 2 Jan 1970) was the debut solo album by singer-songwriter Syd Barrett. It was recorded after Barrett had left Pink Floyd in April 1968. It enjoyed limited commercial success on release, reaching No 40 on the UK's official albums chart. #SydBarrett
