Dear LinkdIn. I don’t need your encouragement. I only signed up to find one organisation I needed to contact. I don’t need Premium. I don’t want to connect with people I might know there. I don’t care who is searching for me. I’m sorry. I never meant to join. It was all a mistake.

With the age verification requirements in place in Australia now, here's a reminder that uploading your ID to the internet is a bad idea as it can and will inevitably get hacked and stolen.

Politicians have no clue about cybersecurity, nor do they care.

Furness went on to say that in their first year NACC received approx 3000 referrals compared to 3500 for NSW ICAC, & in their 2nd yr NACC dropped to about 2000 while NSW ICAC was again approx 3500. Despite these numbers, NSW ICAC concludes their matters faster.

Reflections on the day 1 of the age ban: experts sidelined again, nuance ignored, and the debate drowned by low-effort vox pops. Policy built on vibes not evidence gets sold as "protecting kids" with all the spectacle of a state propaganda march, loud, choreographed, & divorced from substance.

Are we expected to believe that this oil tanker was carrying drugs, or is that a claim even the US govt would consider a step too far?

The fiasco of the Lady GaGa concert in Brisbane is quintessential Australia 2025.
From banks to aged care, internet service providers to events organisers, "Sorry for the delay", "Thank you for your patience" and "Retain your place in the queue" hide the consistent and rampant abuse of "clients".

The mismatch between commentary about the social media ban in MSM/ABC compared with commentary in independent media should concern every Australian.

We see the same with so many issues from commentary on climate to crime to immigration - and so much more!

Why? #auspol

The troubling lack of data behind Australia's social media ban on children

The trouble with the scientific evidence behind the social media ban in Australia is that there is not more of it.

Banning under 16s from social media is victim blaming.

Banning kids to protect them from social media is giving social media companies permission to keep running their vile, disgusting, toxic, networks.

Australia is failing its kids with this ban.

Privacy concerns, lack of proper consultation with young people, the overlooked negative impact a ban can have on many teens and the lack of parental exemptions are just some of the issues that have been raised since this idea was first floated last year

This headline is misleading.
Australia is insisting that major social media apps positively identify ALL users in order to weed out the under-age, in order to be able to identify and possibly control future communications, most especially the ones that whichever govt is in power doesn't like!

Thanks Australian Government!

You were told by the experts you consulted not to do this.
Roll it back, morons.
