The existence of the Privacy Act hasn't in the past protected customers of major banks, telcos or airlines, so doubt that it's going to miraculously protect users of age assurance companies.

We have no way of knowing whether data that's supposed to be deleted ever is deleted properly.

Your own documents provide exceptions to that! They can bury "consent" in the middle of a dozen pages of T&C.

Not one single 3rd party age assurance business currently being used by the socmed apps is Australian based. One is in the US, one is purportedly in Singapore (but more likely Myanmar), etc

Extremely doubtful. Some of us read the Brereton Report about war crimes in Afghanistan and it was a complete whitewash of everyone above the rank of Corporal.

The Holden much larger all round

What legislation?

Australian legislation covers the socmed app only, not the 3rd party verification companies -I seem to recall from the original draft of legislation tho that might have changed in final version

Epic Games is American owned so unlikely to consider themselves bound by overseas law

I don't think that most people are suggesting that HER trips weren't work related. The problem is why she expects us to pay for her husband to go along and hold her hand (and presumably abandon her kids in the process which doesn't seem very family oriented!)

Furness went on to say that in their first year NACC received approx 3000 referrals compared to 3500 for NSW ICAC, & in their 2nd yr NACC dropped to about 2000 while NSW ICAC was again approx 3500. Despite these numbers, NSW ICAC concludes their matters faster.

Cam. You should do an article about all these "verification" companies that are coming out of the woodwork.
So many seem to have websites promising privacy but very little about either their own background or in fact how they ensure the privacy of the data collected (apart from a pinkie promise)

What this socmed ban on under 16s in Australia is revealing is how many people seemingly lacking in parenting skills believe that all parents also lack those skills plus are technically illiterate.
