Maria Stephan (co-writer with Erica Chenoweth of WHY CIVIL RESISTANCE WORKS) is talking now. 3.5% rule - if 3.5% of the population participate in resistance, you can stop authoritarianism. Equivalent of 11 million folks in the US.

A billionaire who profits off the presidency is feuding with another billionaire who bought access to the government to line his own pockets.

Neither should have ever been able to amass so much power.

What we're witnessing is a failed experiment in billionaire governance.

This has always been the GOP's strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves.

2) Explode the deficit.

3) Demand cuts to vital programs that help millions.

4) Repeat.

They're trying to get away with it again.

The Plan:

Impeach Trump after the midterms, 2 years into his term and the struggle to hang on to the country we hope we really are. If Republicans resist, a Democrat-led impeachment proceeding would at the very least be a watershed moment—an essential reckoning:

Trump Is More Likely to Get a Third Impeachment Than a Third Term
In 100 days, he has amply demonstrated he deserves it.

Then, two officers visited him at his home, accusing him of "obstructing an ongoing immigration investigation"

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

Trump lives on personal Quid-pro-quos. He really doesn't understand larger issues such as real democracy, loyalty to principles, and freedom, and he never will.
United States support for Ukraine was never about securing mineral rights.

Or providing security for money.

It was about democracy and sovereignty. And a willingness to defend our allies and oppose our enemies.

Trump is betraying Ukraine, but also our values. Our history and our legacy.
