I’ve been listening to this argument for at least 40 years now and somehow no one ever gets it. Then it’s all “we need more roads/parking. Let’s add some service-free bedroom communities only accessible by freeway to round things off.” Wash, rinse, repeat. #yqrcc

Collective is the key term here. Those at privileged institutions can not rely on their/our institutions to survive compliance with unethical mandates. Our unions, our institutions, our scholarly/professional associations must act with courage. Those institutions are composed largely of us.
To my fellow academics: the far-right is coming for us. All of us. And neither tenure nor seniority will save you, no matter what you tell yourself. Organization and solidarity are our only hope. Absent a truly collective defense we're all fucked.
