As the film world and people of good taste around the world mourn the sudden death of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, President Donald Trump jumped to make the apparent double homicide about himself.

Louisiana — the red state that Mike Johnson nominally represents — has the second highest percentage of residents enrolled in SNAP in the nation.

They’re pushing this fantasy about these being “Democrat programs” used only in blue states but that’s a PR fantasy divorced from reality.
Mike Johnson: "These blue states have abused the SNAP program just like they've abused Medicaid and so many other government programs."

The protests were not confined to the nation's capital, with anti-Trump Americans marching everywhere from Anchorage, Alaska, to Venice, Florida — and pretty much everywhere in between. They dressed for the occasion, too, as photos of the demonstrations make clear. 📸

Trump playing up his bullet dodging skills at the Charlie Kirk memorial is really beyond parody.
Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

No evidence of association between Charlie Kirk shooting and left-wing groups so far, according to officials. Interesting chart here in the NBC piece of ideology and domestic terrorism, 70% comes from far-right groups.

One of the key ways you refuse to comply with fascism is by becoming even louder and more fearless in supporting vulnerable people. You SHOW that you are unwilling to throw the "undesirables" under the bus if only for self-preservation because under fascism you will also become undesirable one day.

There’s just never any situation where you need to vote on the same line as fascists. It’s really not difficult but we can keep pretending it is I suppose.
People here are judging votes based by whether it shows sufficient opposition or not, people elsewhere are judging them by other metrics. Trump and Republicans are unpopular but that does not mean that opposing them on every single thing is a smart or wise strategy for every member individually

I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action

This guy's a vet and a lawyer who threw a sandwich and offered to turn himself in, so they sent a paramilitary platoon with a camera crew.

They have FBI and U.S. Marshal badges; apparently those agencies do no real work beyond camera stunts, harassing minorities, and filling concentration camps.
The White House posted an insane video of the police arresting the sandwich guy in a safe and wealthy neighborhood.

5/ The bill cuts the help middle income Americans get to buy health care on the Affordable Care Act exchange.

A 60 year old couple making $85,000 (not a king's ransom) would see a $26,000 increase in health care premiums. Yes, that's right - $26,000.

The spectacle was billed as honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.

In reality, the event was just one part of the Trump administration’s vast, billion-dollar government effort to make the leader feel good about himself.
