okay so i feel like whenever someone cites ESR by name when making some Cathedral v. Bazaar argument that it ends up being a bit of a sign of the author's character.
it's not strictly a sure thing, but it feels kinda similar to how people will cite DJB and then turn out to be shitheads.

part of the reason i am genuinely irritated with the gAI/AGI cult is because there is real societal benefits in using ML techniques in medical care + weather analysis, and instead people get annoyed with anything that gets lumped in with the plagiarism machine

also all of the c-suites that panicked and decided to shove LLMs everywhere and ruin their UX to make them front and center because they were terrified about not being able to monetize the thing they're spending bajillions on

It’s really cool watching people on this website cry about how anti-technology and progress the world is re: AI and hearing, from the small number of instructors I know in real life, how this stuff is just destroying traditional instruction with no effective mitigation for public education systems.
My students don’t even bother to remove “ChatGPT said…” from their assignments half the time…
