what do you use it for? i’m pretty compelled by these little guys but it always feels vaguely like the sort of thing i don’t have an actual use case for and would just end up collecting dust..

Elon Musk circa 2012 is unrecognizable from Elon Musk today, it‘s honestly incredibly sad.

Omarchy gets you mecha-hitler on speed dial, which just isn’t that compelling to me but what do i know i don’t even have an F1 car
November 11, 2025 at 1:59 AM
yeah, in exchange for learning a weird JSON-ish language (lol) with a bunch of fucked up design patterns that use lazily evaluated mutual recursion (lol) you get a system that allows you to patch GCC for as much or as little of your package set as needed.

that’s at least a very good trade!

Omarchy just sucks for no reason; Nix & nixpkgs at least suck in service of teaching you how to patch your packagesets.

rip to the like 5 other guys who will immediately respond to you also recommending OSM.

i wonder if you might not have better luck scraping apartment listing websites that demarcate regions by popular neighborhood.
November 9, 2025 at 7:45 PM
yeah i guess the downside is if whoever did the mapping demarcated the place as a point rather than an area then that’s equally valid but significantly less useful lol
November 9, 2025 at 7:39 PM
ah, perhaps the OSM term here that makes sense for what you want is a “place” wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:place

you are free to take my word for it or
not, as you please, but Palantir’s brand of consulting is fairly well-characterized as being functionally equivalent to McKinsey, Accenture, et al.

in purely economic terms they are a tremendously obvious grift.
November 9, 2025 at 7:18 PM
can’t tell if this is bait or not, but i’ll probably regret jumping in the thread either way.

imagine looking at the USDS or 18F or the myriad small contractors doing amazing work in the defense space and instead choosing to throat Palantir’s hog on the internet.
