💯
The real American tragedy is that so many powerful Republicans knew exactly how awful Trump was and they resolved to be just that awful, too.

This was one of two times this year that I had the most transcendent movie-going experience in a long time. The other was James Gunn’s Superman.

I’ll say it again. @jamesgunn.bsky.social’s Superman is the most fun I’ve had at the movie in years. I’ve been a Superman fan since I was 10 years old and a James Gunn fan since Super: everything my wife knows about comics, she’s inherited from me.
We both absolutely loved this movie.

And now Resident Alien is cancelled. We can’t have anything nice, can we?

How’s Tim Apple doing these days?

No surprise, James Gunn et al. knocked it out of the park with Superman. I’ve been a @jamesgunn.bsky.social fan ever since Super, so I knew he had the goods, but it was even better than I’d dared to hope. Just a hell of a lot of fun with all the right moves. Also, Krypto!

When your neighbor on the left is being dragged away by masked men and your neighbor on the right can't get an X-ray for their child, be sure to quickly explain that "both parties are the same" and whatnot.

I rarely get good moon shots on iPhone, but I like this one, from Bailey, CO.

#Andor is going to stay with me for a long time. So well done, so relevant and timely, so perfectly acted and elegantly paced. I just can’t say enough good things about it.

You may not want to watch this unless you’ve read or seen The Life of Chuck, since there are minor plot spoilers, but it’s a nice little insight into how King wrote the story. youtu.be/5JrlSoqb3Ec?...

Jaws (the film) is many things: a brilliant work of art, one of the best films in recent memory, a stone-cold classic. It’s also a great example of how the book is not always better than the movie.

Couldn’t agree more. What a beautiful film. Congrats, @mikeflanaganfilm.com and company!

When I first heard Mike Flanagan was adapting another Stephen King story, The Life of Chuck didn't even cross my mind. As it turns out, Mike Flanagan and The Life of Chuck are a perfect match, and I'm going to be processing this one for a while, in much the same way I did the story. 5/5 stars

Yes! Bonus points if the white bread is stale.
My theory about bbq places:

The better the bread, the worse everything else is.

If you go to a bbq joint and the bread is fancy, brisket will suck, sauce will be too ketchup, sides will be stale.

If they throw a shitty slice of Wonder Bread at you from the counter, you are in for miracle meat.

Man, it's bad enough to watch your nation sinking into fascist dystopia but for THAT guy? the barely-sentient former game show host with the laughably stupid combover? Really, that's the dude for whom we're giving up democracy?

I love L.A., fully and unironically, even with all its many flaws - and absolutely none of those flaws have to do with it being a city of immigrants. That’s one thing that makes L.A. a miracle, vital, a delight. Sending love to my friends there and curses to all ICE goons and their nazi bosses.

Practicing soloing with my looper pedal tonight, I set down a fuzzy little D, C, G loop that I thought sounded like The Stones. Then I thought it was The Scorpions. Then I realized it was actually both.
