I'm going to do a thing I just made up over the next few days

Watch this space for #5by5by5 - 5 things by 5 people 5 times before 2025. Bonus points if it's sanbout what you did in 2024 but it doesn't really matter if it is.
Well, would you look at that, two of my favorite podcasts get a crossover. That's a lovely thing to find out at the end of a very very long day :)
Listen with horror as Gone Medieval, one of the foremost English-language podcasts about medieval history, of which I've been a loyal listener for years, is now invaded by linguistics, thanks to yours truly.

So much of life in the UK is accepting insane illogical nonsense.

Two facts that I think show this in sharp relief:
1. The treatment of Prince Andrew.
2. Season tickets don't save you money and weren't designed to. They were standardized by British Rail in the 1970s to make tickets less confusing.

Theres going to be a lot of nonsense going around about ID cards in the coming months, if there isn't already. Check my timeline for two takes worth reading (one for, one against).

UK recognition of the State of Palestine was a promise made to my great grandfather decades ago. While on its own, recognition won’t solve anything without further action, it is a down payment on peace. Today we have just a little more hope, and hope is contagious.
