It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

There will be all kinds of people coming out of the woodwork to ensure that the only result of the Epstein files coming out is more restrictions on sex work and more censorship. They can and will use it as an excuse to make sex workers less safe.
#SaveSpeech

if you've seen a video going around of Epstein survivors talking about their abuse, you need to be aware that video is promoting World-Without-Exploitation, an organization whose website supports legislation like KOSA, and advocates for the "Nordic model"

they are not your allies.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."
Oh wow @reuters.com got the photo here:

Literary culture is dying and it’s not just screens or lack of investment in literature as a key part of culture — it’s that so many people are functionally illiterate. Publishers should be concerned about this!

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

SO much of the cultural and artistic nostalgia that society chases was just art made when people got paid to do it. Lavish movie posters made by human artists, video games made by people without sixteen different investment companies breathing down their neck, movies made by studios taking a chance.

The Titans 2025 annual by @philjimeneznyc.bsky.social was one of the best annuals and single issues I’ve read in a while. I think this gives Donna Troy the clearest origin story she’s ever had. And what an emotional read this was. Fantastic story. #titans #teentitans #dccomics #donnatroy #wondergirl
