NYT bestselling author: "The Girl From The Channel Islands", "Beyond Summerland." Ex comic. Liberal-lefty that tries not to group-think, sweary, surprisingly old – surprising to me, anyway. Love the sea, pubs & great writing
This.👇 Anyone else experience their first grin today, following the misery of last week's events?
Bloody foreigners coming over here and saving peoples lives.

Very interesting thread raising some alarming questions – something for the weekend, @matthew-wright.bsky.social ?
So a weird thing happened to me in Aldi that I cdn't quite place until I was listening to Gabby Bertin talking about choking in porn on the radio this am. (NB: this is 100% not a sex thing). Having the usual polite chitchat with the cashier who is tired from working extra shifts to make £ for xmas..

THIS! Check out Byline Times for proper investigative reporting needed now more than ever. Keeps you ahead of mainstream news outlets for a couple of quid a month. And no, they're not paying me!
Byline has become one of the most important sources of news in the country! Amazing what a difference it makes when you're not owned/controlled by a foreign billionaire x

Ing Hell Indeed.
Fuck. Ing. Hell.
This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

I was a stand up in the 80s, a time when ironically some people thought the new wave too politically correct. Always loved US stand up. Never thought I'd live to see a US comic fired for the political pleasure of a president. Dark day for the US and for true free speech.

Can’t get enough of this. @raskin.house.gov rubbing Nigel Farage’s nose in his self-confessed love of Putin as he’s forced to sit & watch is delicious beyond words

Readers of Becky's first book, Keanu Reeves Is Not In Love With You, will know to expect useful anti-scam info in highly entertaining form. I'll be getting this. (Probably from a different retailer though, if poss)

Excellent thread here. I remember when The Telegraph was respected even by centrists and left wingers. I'm pretty old.
The Telegraph is now having to publish so many corrections to articles where it attempts to find *any angle whatsoever* to attack net-zero polices that it makes sense to start tracking them here.

These are the ones published since Labour won the election.

"We are happy to correct the record."

Argument on Today was "narrator gets in the way." Only if they're bad, otherwise why would they? And if audio is intrinsically bad, should we not read to kids? Well done for an excellent defence.
Just been championing audiobooks on The Today programme. No surprise to those of us with dyslexia children or parents with poor eyesight. Nor to anyone that works with vulnerable readers. Or good readers like me who just love them. Close your eyes and listen or vacuum or drive. Brilliant.
UK audiobook revenue up by almost a third last year
Income from audiobooks reached a record £268m in 2024, according to figures from the Publishers Association

USA today.
I miscarried twice…once in a toilet.

A 9 week pregnancy is the size of a period clot. I flushed the toilet.

Today, I could go to jail for that. Jail. For a wanted pregnancy my body rejected and I took care of by myself.

Disunity Mitford did not bungle her answer. She knows how it will be clipped by their client media. This is not idiocy, it's policy.
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, bungled answers on Tuesday about habeas corpus, incorrectly saying that the legal right of people to challenge their detention by the government was actually the president’s “constitutional right” to deport people.
