NYT bestselling author: "The Girl From The Channel Islands", "Beyond Summerland." Ex comic. Liberal-lefty that tries not to group-think, sweary, surprisingly old – surprising to me, anyway. Love the sea, pubs & great writing
Brilliant, Minnesota. And thank you
Incredible. The people of Minnesota are inspiring a nation.
A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

Every time I listen to @nickabbot.bsky.social I berate myself for not listening to him more often. I fell for him the night he was off his tits on flu meds but still turned up. Creative late night radio as it's meant to be.

Farage's best mate. Despicable piece of sh*t.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Well knock me down...etc. 😐
NEW: NEW: Standards commissioner finds Nigel Farage committed seventeen breaches of MPs code of conduct.

He failed to declare £333,000 in outside interests (more than 3x MPs annual salary)…

El Tangerino claims no one defends a "lease". So what are US bases in Europe? By this logic, US wouldn't assist any European nation they didn't "own".

For those for whom Brexit sovereignty was a matter of life or death, how's it going with your favourite rag?
These so-called "patriotic" 🇬🇧newspapers who brought you Brexit were never really patriotic at all.

They are driven by a disdain for Britain's European neighbours, and a fawning obsession with America.

They do not really want 🇬🇧 to be sovereign. They're content being a 🇺🇸vassal.

Now what's that old joke about the guy no one liked, and his wife said in a contest he'd come second... tip of my tongue...

So X's current plan to deal with child porn tools on their site is to monetise it. Got it.

Frankly, until like me you've referred to Bill Murray's famous movie as Greyhound Day, in front of other people, you have nothing to worry about.

That has actually cheered me up, no mean feat today.

Quite right - the man's health comes above all other considerations. All hopes for his recovery. As for those comments - afraid I largely choose not to look any more.

This.👇 Anyone else experience their first grin today, following the misery of last week's events?
Bloody foreigners coming over here and saving peoples lives.

Very interesting thread raising some alarming questions – something for the weekend, @matthew-wright.bsky.social ?
So a weird thing happened to me in Aldi that I cdn't quite place until I was listening to Gabby Bertin talking about choking in porn on the radio this am. (NB: this is 100% not a sex thing). Having the usual polite chitchat with the cashier who is tired from working extra shifts to make £ for xmas..

Developers can cut the "affordable" % up to last minute anyway, can't they, regardless of contract, and Loc Auths have no comeback?

THIS! Check out Byline Times for proper investigative reporting needed now more than ever. Keeps you ahead of mainstream news outlets for a couple of quid a month. And no, they're not paying me!
Byline has become one of the most important sources of news in the country! Amazing what a difference it makes when you're not owned/controlled by a foreign billionaire x

I think this is exactly the point. Questions devised with one eye on a grabby headline. Though who it's meant to appeal to is another question.

It comes & goes. But slowly it goes more often than it comes, and eventually it stops coming altogether. Not doing it is the only trick there is.

Happened to me once after a gig when I lived on the 19th floor in London. I had my guitar in a heavy plastic case.
