It's not going to be enough to abolish ICE.

There are going to need to be prosecutions.

I’ve said it before but it is embarrassing that so many intellectuals spent years in small factional battles over the propriety of calling this fascism.
In preparation for next week’s parade/demonstration, tanks are being moved into Washington, DC today. Unprecedented.

Any moderately competent historian could have told you this is always where it was going to lead
The news that the FBI arrested a sitting judge dovetails with what @mford.bsky.social wrote for today: What began as a plan for mass deportation of immigrants has spiraled into a broad campaign against American citizens and their constitutional rights

Trump’s War on Immigrants Has Become an Attack on Us All
What began as Trump’s mass deportation scheme has spiraled into a campaign of intimidation against citizens lawfully using their rights.

These are the proactive steps states need to be taking right now. Another thing: every Democratic governor needs to have a sit-down now with the state adjutant general to carefully review that person's understanding of their responsibilities to their state, its citizens and the federal constitution.
Washington just took the reasonable step of not allowing the National Guard of other states to operate here without our agreement. It’s not the Guard personnel we are concerned about, it’s other governors in the Trump cult. katu.com/news/local/g...

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.

Man, I fundamentally disagree with you here. The thing that's losing IS the losing. It's the loser shit contained herein — "this ad about trans people cost her 2+ points." Poll testing everything, not believing in anything, not standing up for human rights at every step, is what makes it even close.

Donald Trump is torturing people on US soil.
At the Miami Krome ICE prison, detainees are held 16 hours with “tight chains around their wrists, chests, and hips on buses outside the facilities without water, food, or access to bathrooms. Guards instructed them to urinate or defecate inside the buses.”

Either the U.S. government *is* able to exert monetary and diplomatic pressure on El Salvador sufficient to produce Abrego Garcia’s release, or it isn’t.

The latter would be either a bald-faced lie or a pretty stunning concession of our national impotence. The Vice President should pick one.

Both this and the decision to send planes to El Salvador on March 15 in spite of Boasberg's order seem to come from him.

Then he goes out and shrieks on TV, including on TV that SCOTUS watches.
I have a feeling that Miller is single-handedly stopping the admin from just getting this guy back. From a legal POV it would be better for the government’s case if they can show the ability to correct error. But Miller is pathological about getting brown people out and not letting them in
