This is lovely and I think it's so important that he's comfortable enough in his own skin that he can just say "what does that mean?"

also that is such a law word.

A congressional resolution condemning socialism is a tremendous waste of time and exactly the kind of performative politics that people fucking hate. How about we actually legislate some solutions that help people put food on the table?

“Re ‘There are a lot of people on your side who will be in the Epstein Files too!’: No there aren't, my side is the ‘People Who Don't Fuck Children’ side, anyone not on this side can get all the way into the bin, what side are YOU on, exactly?” — John Scalzi

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Great to have Rep. Grijalva as the newest member of the Democratic Caucus! The people of AZ-07 have a voice again in the House.

It shouldn’t have taken Speaker Johnson seven shameful weeks to swear her in so he could stall a vote on releasing the Epstein files.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

It’s been 45 days since Adelita Grijalva was elected by the people of Arizona.

Mike Johnson is still refusing to swear her in because she’s the final vote for the discharge petition to release the Epstein files.

Teen Vogue's Closure and the Quiet Defunding of Worker Consciousness
Teen Vogue’s shutdown marks more than a media loss. This is a warning about how profit-driven consolidation quietly dismantles worker awareness and voice.

Yep. I voted yes on a measure to pay our town board more, but it failed soundly. They haven't had a raise in their stipend since 1996. We shouldn't make it so that only people who are already rich can afford to be public servants!!!
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.
