this is true and dishwashers aren’t the only green thing that’s better!

see also: heat pumps
Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

Apparently P*ypal now asks for customer opinions on accounts sending invoices.
If you are paying an invoice to a nsfw artist, do NOT mention NSFW in any way, keep it blank even. you risk both your account and the artists.

thanks Brittany, this really resolves my concerns about whether Roblox has a problem with sexual content accessible to children

Levi claims to have pooped in the potty at daycare and I regret to say I currently feel EXACTLY like a doctor who doesn’t believe their patient started exercising

S-tier version of this was showing up to my PCP like “Yeah so I just thought this was kind of weird but [mutual doctor friend] said I had to tell you about it”

Mamdani should send Trump one Phantom of the Opera Broadway prop per month with a little handwritten note and a Diet Coke, he’d have the Mandate of Heaven

21 Nov 2025 -- US embassies being told to categorize things trans kids' gender-transition, DEI policies, and subsidizing abortion as human rights violations for State Dept's annual human rights report @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
US says countries with DEI policies as infringing human rights
US officials say the rules will stop "destructive ideologies" but others argue it is redefining human rights principles for Trump's goals.

Media says articles can't presume intent in an article; but calling it a mistake DOES presume intent, positing the arrests are carried out in good faith in presumed accordance with the law.

Media presumes intent constantly. But it's always in an exculpatory direction.
Media has got to stop calling it a mistake when ICE nabs citizens. Just say what they did straight up. Why are you carrying water for them?

Other series I want more people to read is @tkingfisher.com ‘s Sworn Soldier series.
Yes yes it has trans rep and that’s cool but what’s COOLER is how the first book is a retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher and it fucks severely.

about a year later one Friday night my parents were like “hey uhhh is there a party you could be going to or something” and I was like “??? what do you people want from me???” lmao
“all my friends are doing it” listen once when I was 15 a group of six boys and six girls wanted to see a PG-13 movie and I wasn’t allowed to unless we found one more friend to come along so it couldn’t be construed as a sextuple date

Found my doctors appointments got less frustrating once I started going in like “I really want to play badminton again 😢 but I can’t even push a cart around the grocery store 😢 and I’ve hit a wall where no matter what I do I can’t seem to increase my exercise capacity 😢 and it makes it hard to work”
The rationale behind these studies, Seltzer contests, is [that] “it presumes that the patient had never heard of exercise until a doctor told them [it] exists.”

Thanks to Simon Spichak for putting this idea into print. I've said multiple times in interviews that it's the strangest part... 🧵
“People who are performing these studies are extraordinarily ignorant, and their ignorance is dangerous,” said @exceedhergrasp1.bsky.social. She and other experts agree these trials are a waste of $$ and will not advance our biological understanding of Long COVID. thesicktimes.org/2025/11/21/l...

highly recommend talking to your kids on a regular basis because a few weeks ago I mentioned Levi’s birthday and he was like “Yeah! And I’m gonna have a birfday party and my fwens are gonna be dere” and that’s how I learned I needed to plan a birthday party and send invites to daycare

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.
