"You have to understand. Most people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured and so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
@philandrew-il9.bsky.social You've literally said nothing about the government shutdown... either during or now that it's ended.

Pretty telling...

These words mean nothing, @duckworth.senate.gov . Unless you publicly call for @durbin.senate.gov 's and @schumer.senate.gov 's immediate ouster then you are just as complicit as they are in this spineless, cowardly capitulation.
Trump and Republicans refuse to fight for American families, but I refuse to give up on them.

I simply cannot vote to do nothing to help protect them from Trump’s vindictive efforts in exchange for a vague promise from the least trustworthy Republican party in our nation’s history.

What is the point of a political party that will not fight for the people?

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

I keep seeing regular Americans taking more risks every day to fight tyranny, want, and cynicism than I see from the opposition party, and I imagine many of those regular Americans are asking themselves what the value proposition of such an opposition party is, really

Their actions speak louder than words and it couldn’t be any more clear the contempt the Senate Democratic leaders have for their base and how the caucus generally goes along with the leadership. They all own this.
If the rest don’t oust Schumer immediately, then the entire U.S. Senate sold us out. They think we’re stupid. It’s insulting.
These 8 Senators sold us out to Trump:
Hassan
King
Cortez-Masto
Shaheen
Kaine
Fetterman
Durbin
Rosen

Understand This Fact: Chuck Schumer is behind this. None of these 8 are up for reelection in 2026. Schumer asked them vote yes—they agreed. He's such a coward that he folded and won't even own it.

"Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown, and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall," writes @jonathanbchait.bsky.social
Instead, he argues, they're making a mistake by giving in:

They’re not cowardly.
They’re complicit.

Assuming they’re cowardly gives them the benefit of the doubt of being in opposition.

Indeed. Until progressives in the Senate Democratic caucus directly challenge Schumer’s leadership it’s kind of hard to take their grousing seriously at this point. They are all in on this #SchumerSurrender politics.
Hey just a reminder that it only takes 23 Senate Democrats to remove and replace Chuck Schumer as minority leader. They don't do it because the majority of Senate Democrats approve of the way he does politics.

Vote out Schumer, Gillibrand, and every Establishment Corporate funded Democrat. They've failed us repeatedly and have no idea how to lead. The Democratic Party will either die or transform into new leadership. It cannot survive in its current state.

Did you know? Every year, the Supreme Court’s nine justices fill out a form that discloses their financial connections to companies and people.

Our database allows you to search for organizations and people that have paid them, reimbursed them for travel and given them gifts.

The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani.

The president and his allies came after him.

Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute.

He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters.

His politics can win anywhere.

The moderates and fascists are going to be terrified. They’re going to be desperate and, just like we saw with Cuomo, they’re going to increasingly side with one another.

That’s what history teaches us and it’s on us to be ready for the fight. And, if we are, we will win.

57% of all ad spending by Republicans in the Virginia governors race was on anti trans ads. Just an incredibly mismanaged campaign. Anti-trans politics are a losing issue.
