“Getting sick frequently at school is not inevitable, and it isn’t because kids are just harbingers of viruses. It’s more because the buildings they inhabit do not have adequate ventilation and filtration systems to reduce illness transmission,” @mjnabuurs.bsky.social said.

Its almost the 1-year anniversary of my COVID-induced heart attack.
Prevent COVID infection.

2 years ago, I presented my long COVID symptoms to different cardiologists. They ran a holter monitor a couple times, said everything was fine and sent me on my way. I asked them if they would/could investigate vascular damage caused by long COVID.
They essentially said no.

Well, I spoke too soon. LC hit my heart again. This time a heart attack.
Im young (48) and healthy (except for LC).
I was just skating (usual exercise) and I had a heart attack. Luckily a stint did the trick.
Resting in ICU now.
Avoid infection.
Sleeping in my Q100 tonight😓

One of the most dangerous persistent myths is that planes are safe due to ventilation.

In reality ventilation is only on part of the time, and there is bad ventilation before and after take off.

And viruses can still spread easily in crowds over short distances regardless of ventilation status.

All of you that bought into the “you do you” and “be kind” and “it’s not airborne” campaigns for Public Health: The Verge has an article for you.
Since his appointment, RFK Jr. has pursued a brutal vision of American health that several experts liken to a sort of eugenics. Kennedy has made it clear that certain deaths are acceptable or even preferable to a world where every child is vaccinated.

When the police call for police to be taken off mental health calls - as police chiefs have done in Toronto, Victoria and elsewhere - we should listen, ask who responds instead, and where the money comes from to pay for that service. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Police officers shouldn’t be leading mental health calls, Toronto police chief says | CBC News
For years, police have been on the front lines of mental health crisis calls in Toronto, but the city's police chief believes it's now time to rethink that approach.

I have rage. This is why we never allowed blood, plasma, organs to be paid exchanges in the past. It *automatically* leads to the exploitation of people already struggling to make ends meet. Tax the fucking rich and implement a universal UBI. Instead, we just keep making things harder for people. 😡

It's high time for all hospitals, daycares, public schools and long term care facilities to be taking airborne precautions 24/7 from now until .... well ... forever.

Because so many of the nasties out there, are either predominantly airborne or have an airborne component.

When I'm accused of naivety for thinking the world can change for the better, I use this very example.

I'm not old & in my lifetime, smoking went from absolutely everywhere, to "smoking sections", to the current reality.

It took education, new laws, & peer pressure. All of it - no silver bullet.
I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.

Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…

All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.

We CAN change things.
