The real trap here is that the Republicans have made defending civil rights seem like a frivolous thing and a whole lot of liberals are falling in line. Even if it was a culture war, so what? This would be a war worth fighting. What are we even doing here, people? Get it together.

I find it so hard to balance the practicality of this (I am not going to have a problem in a men's room) with the emotional side (being told I'm not welcome in our fucking national parks) with what a waste of my one and only life it is to have to have emotions about using a goddamn bathroom
Nancy Mace has introduced a federal bathroom ban which would ban trans people from bathrooms in DCA and Dulles airports, national park bathrooms, museum bathrooms, and all federal building bathrooms.

obsessed with this because putting on a bald cap instead of shaving your head is less like solidarity and more like “this is what you look like to me”
John Stamos wears bald cap in solidarity with his ‘Full House’ co-star Dave Coulier, who recently revealed his cancer diagnosis.

Work from home was a boon to productive workers and an absolute catastrophe for the group of middle managers and executives who make their living putting their names on other people's work and that latter group started to undermine it as soon as they realized this.
I do not understand why, after remote work has been repeatedly proven to be just as productive (if not more so) than in-office work, people should be required to return to in-office work in order to justify the money the bosses spent on real estate.
Demanding that people go back to the office five days a week has been shown to punish staff who are lower-income, parents, and disabled. It is also not necessary for reporters and journalists who do much of their work in the field, on the phone, or on laptop computers that can be used anywhere.

The theory that Trump is nominating people who will be intensely loyal to him because they have been cast aside by everyone else feels devastatingly likely.

it’s pretty funny whenever people talk about needing to have a “wider tent” for a political party they always mean people who are transphobic and not trans people
