Do NOT allow workers rights to be an excuse for racism.

Author of the article should be fighting for a Cinnabon union, NOT defending misconduct. They're right that all workers deserve job protections, but picking the worst possible case is a way to HARM and LIBEL the fight for workers.
This is written with a child’s (lack of) understanding of workers rights, at-will employment, and human dignity. As someone who has argued forever against at-will employment and for workers’ right to dignity, it is dismaying but not surprising to see the worst version of an important argument here
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:

At the same time, Ukraine is under immense pressure to capitulate.

If FIFA had any credibility left, it would have lost it with the FIFA Peace Prize absurdity. I understand they just want to keep Trump from screwing up the tourney, but they're really just showing the extent to which they exist to serve the rich.

Been studying and practicing the law since 1991. American law is currently entirely broken and out of touch with the needs of the nation. SCOTUS needs a complete redesign, not just packing.

So, the Regime is refusing to release the October economic data compiled by its own statisticians, but the Regime's social media accounts (e.g., "The White House" on FB, IG) are republishing "optimistic" reports from private sector trade groups about how great things are.

Fuck this timeline.

Turns out the Golden Age of MAGA was an Epstein cover-up, 600,000 Chinese students, H1-B jobs for Indians, massive deficits, pardons for fraudsters & drug traffickers, blowing up boats, 50 year mortgages, tariffs on everything, higher prices, a ballroom, & al-Qaeda in the Oval.

America never learns, we just repeat.
These kinds of things happened two decades ago under the last Republican president. A lot of people made a lot of short term money. Then it all came crashing down and his successor had to clean up a huge mess. Here we go again.

I know the outrage meter is already pinned, but this remains infuriating.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Given that Bloomberg backed Cuomo with a shitton of money, so that Cuomo could run AGAINST the Democratic Party's nominee, can we safely assume Bloomberg's potential career as an elected Dem is done? If not, then WTF is wrong with democrats?

If you don't know the whole story about Mine Mill Local 890, both in 1950 and throughout its history, you should take the time. I had good friends in what was by then Steelworkers Local 890 when Freeport-McMoran finally killed it in 2014. They didn't care what they killed, it was "just business."
#OtD 17 Oct 1950 miners in New Mexico went on strike against the Empire Zinc Company for equal pay and treatment for whites and Mexicans. When strikers were banned from picketing, their wives took over and after 15 months they won stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8938...

BTW, Bsky, fat-shaming is something fascists do. If you do it, we'll know who you really are, or at least that you have the moral character of a rock.

Electoral politics is a shit show. However, liberalism (classical use) requires that if you engage in that shitshow you do so in good faith, even when the oppo does not. A stupid, factually flawed argument, even if it wins the day, is a failure. "Qatar air force base" is one such failure, IMO.

Democrats must keep fighting against Trump's cruel healthcare cuts.

Not sure how manyh people know this, but in the genre of fiction writing that is loosely based on real life military, "grooming standards" are a frequent topic of outright mockery. No serious warrior gives a shit about them. See, e.g., "Generation Kill"

I recently suggested that the First Amendment is not absolute. I used, as one of like six examples, that yelling fire in a crowd was not protected. I was attacked for this.

Apparently, many "leftists" do not believe that the 1913 Italian Hall Disaster was a crime. Fuck those people.

Hey, folks, in case it is somehow not clear: American law is totally fucked up. It is NOT about the logical and orderly enforcement of standards of behavior to ensure the safety and security of society. Many hardworking judges and lawyers TRY to make it that, but . . .

The GOP claims it supports vets, until one of those vets is a Democrat, then it accuses them of misconduct, strips their security details, revokes clearances, sics law enforcement and/or releases their personal information to their hordes of armed goons.

Another "legal fiction." Lawyers get really bent out of shape if one of them is "less than civil" to the other. That will earn you a "reputation." But repeated violations of well-known laws and rules in ways that harm non-lawyers is simply considered "zealous representation."
