There is a part of me that is really really bitter that people are only now noticing how bad things are at large red state public universities like OU. It’s been this way for a long time.
Minority faculty targeted and abandoned.
Deeply conservative admins and vicious politicians.
Look, y'all know I hate AI as much as the next passionate hater of AI, but ChatGPT has nothing on the University of Oklahoma deciding that based on the first amendment students can literally say anything in their papers as existential threat to the university.
Oklahoma University has placed a grad student instructor on admin leave for failing a psychology paper on gender for citing *the Bible* as a source of empirical evidence.

In response, OU has placed on instructor on admin leave citing, get this, the FIRST AMENDMENT.

Universities are cooked.

Today, union stores in 25+ MORE cities are joining our national, open-ended ULP strike!

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Incredibly depressing to see this story wrap up by quoting a lawmaker who says, “we have to allow for more exceptions,” when the entire story is evidence that exceptions don’t work, especially for a Black woman like Tierra Walker who was already at higher risk of dying due to medical neglect
“Ticking Time Bomb”: A Pregnant Mother Kept Getting Sicker. She Died After She Couldn’t Get an Abortion in Texas.
Walker is one of several women ProPublica found with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.
