The mental health system is under immense strain. Something has to change.

This review is a chance to understand what’s driving the increase in mental health problems. This must not be used as a way to justify who deserves support and who doesn’t. 1/2

I am in no way ready for it to be December tomorrow. But this will soften the blow.

I was lucky enough to get a preview copy of Baby’s Breath by @russincheshire.bsky.social. You can pre order it now - it’s out on September 1st.
I devoured it in two sittings. It’s intriguing, fast paced and well written. #treatyourself

My son needs space in his room, so with great sadness most of his Bunny vs Monkey books are going. However! They’re going to three different kids on our street, who have agreed to start a bookswap group so they can share them. Thanks for all the laughs,

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

When I talk about the effect on children of behavioural practices which are used in some schools, I’m often told that these are trivial. Here's why I disagree.

Britain's 177 billionaires sit on £965 bn - more EACH than the average Brit will earn in 1000 lifetimes.

So obviously, Labour decided NOT to have a 2% wealth tax on this obscene, unspendable hoarding. More poverty for 6.9m disabled Britons is their solution.

Some days it’s a bit, whatever, Mark’s on the telly again. But half an hour prime slot on BBC2 with Lady Gaga hits a bit different. #superproud #availableoniplayer

The remote work debate was funny because it forced the question "Is a job something valuable you do or is it a place you go to be watched like daycare" and the answer for a lot of them was yeah it's the daycare thing now come on inside recess is over

An everyday problem we can all relate to. It can be hard to balance your jelly while paying for your gravity defying milk, even when you have 6 baguettes. Thanks for saving us, Apple.

I’ve inadvertently created a @taskmaster.tv task for myself.
Most beans transferred from a bean bag to a bin bag in 10 minutes. Points deducted for runaway beans all over the floor.
The contestants could do it without the overwhelming stench of stale cat pee, but it does add a layer of urgency.

Blue Monday isn't real. It was invented by a travel company. But mental health is real, and it's important. If you're struggling today, or any other day, I hope you're able to reach out to a friend, or to one of these charities, which are here to help:

Today is World Logic Day. How fitting that we have a meeting with SASS about our child’s “unauthorised” MH absences. We can’t get evidence from a GP, it’s a 14mth wait for CAMHS. SASS will set a 90% target with no support. Further absence will be unauthorised and we’ll be fined again. Logic.

This level of wealth concentration is indefensible
According to Barron’s, Elon Musk’s wealth increased by almost $200 billion between November 5 and December 20. That means he could give $250,000 to every homeless person in the US and still be as rich as he was on November 5.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. saw an 18.1% increase in homelessness this year, with more than 770,000 people counted as homeless.
