She was a perfect example of why other people need to wear masks even if they don’t personally think Covid will hurt them”

Thank You Alice Wong

Apparently this person was asked to provide medical documents that proved she needed to mask. This is why “health exceptions” to masks bans don’t work.

It's really extraordinary to get a 1 a.m. order from the U.S. Supreme Court on litigation that didn't even exist until 8 hours ago.

That suggests that (at least 7 of them) are taking this Constitutional threat seriously.
BREAKING: SCOTUS orders the government not to remove from the country, for the time being, any of the individuals slated for possible deportation to El Salvador. The vote is apparently 7-2, with Justices Thomas and Alito in dissent

All anti-mask laws—even those with so called “medical exceptions”—stigmatize mask-wearing.

Fewer people wearing masks increases the spread of infectious diseases.

No matter how lawmakers try to spin it, any law that criminalizes wearing a mask endangers public health. Period.

Call Target at 612-304-6073 and press 7 to tell them you’re disappointed that Target is canceling DEI programs. I just had a surprisingly meaningful conversation with the person who answered.

David Lynch spent the last portion of his life in isolation. He said it was due to being high-risk and unable to risk getting COVID.

He’s not the only person with disability or illness who’s been left behind.

Everywhere you go without an n95 is a place you’ve decided disabled people don’t belong.

I appreciate Dr Noor cutting right to the heart of the matter.

Criminalizing masks = forced infections.

Masks are a public health tool. They make spaces accessible. If you ban them, people will either need to stay home or consent to forced infection.

We should ALL be angry about this.
Healthy people should be allowed to wear a respirator so they can stay healthy.

Mask ban = enforced infections.

Covid is not over and masks are one of our best tools to avoid infection. Mask bans are ableist, discriminatory and would mark a return to ugly laws.

Anyone willing to shove someone in front of a train is not going to reconsider just because their mask is illegal. 🧵

A mask ban on the subway means anyone who can’t afford to get covid will be banned from riding the subway. Health exemptions don’t work.

There's no evidence to suggest a mask ban would deter crime. There is, however, plenty of evidence to show that criminalizing masks will have severe consequences for marginalized groups.

Last week, a group behind the mask ban said making mask bans into law is their “top priority” this session. While they claim this fights hate, these bans embolden it against disabled people & enable biased enforcement that puts BIPOC NYers at risk.

8/ One actionable step is for CMS to add COVID-19 and other airborne infections to the list of healthcare-acquired infections for which treatment is not reimbursed.

This would align with existing policies and create a powerful incentive for hospitals to implement necessary precautions.
