Still absolutely floored by the genius writing and pacing of Mike Flanagan’s FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, half prestige drama and half Poe-flavored horror show. It’s seriously so good and so underrated, go watch it!!

but maybe with secrets like that, it shouldn't.

Sorry, but “history” proves mass nonviolent community protests NEVER work. The ONLY thing that can bring people together is reading my miserable posts. Smiling people hugging in the sunshine accomplishes NOTHING. Reading my punishing content, indoors and alone, is the only path forward.

even if nothing goes sideways, leave your dog at home, your dog doesn’t want to be around tens of thousands of people
Oh dear, I just heard someone on the radio say they're going to a No Kings event tomorrow and bringing their dog.

Please, don't bring your dog. Please. I don't care how good your dog is, please don't bring it just in case something goes sideways.

One of my complaints about Severance -- which I like quite a bit -- is how obvious it is that no one involved in it ever worked in a corporate office environment. Hollywood in particular is very bad at depicting the hopelessness of a dead-end job with no prospects
there's a years ago tweet that basically said that anyone writing TV or movies by definition managed to land their extremely-hard-to-get dream job and it colors how they think about work and jobs and wish fulfillment in the stuff they write, and i think about it a lot

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly.
