There’s flame wars, but if you look closely there’s people that recognize both are insecure for different reasons.
The path forward is to just encrypt your data and only let your friends decrypt it, agnostic of protocol

FYI I don't have access to DMs on here while traveling bc my carrier switches to a UK one while roaming (?), and accessing DMs on here requires uploading my ID to an age verification service ... so I get locked out of messaging on this app due to temporarily having a UK IP address.
