Glad to give you my hot take on it while I'm in EST+1 if you DM

I'm sure that eventually c2PA will be available to ATP devs via Middleware (hopefully selfhostable Foss in addition to commodity SaaS) from both ATP and actpub but if someone's tryna be first to market, thoughts and prayers, raw CBOr and XML and x509 are all on their critical path 😬

@posth.me has been prototyping a custodial/alsoKnownAs way of making these declarations but in theory a custom PDS could just do it in a little dockerized sidecar some day, it's architecturally possible. Would need to use a separate key tho, whether that's on same server or elsewhere (i.e. still aKA

Oh dang it I should've been there I'm in the C2PA extension WG at DIF. There is a path to c2PA and ISCC declarations being made directly on-PDS and using did:plc as declarer identifier, which c2PA middleware can then tuck into the baroque XML/Cbor manifest without ATP devs having to futz w/it

It just brought a tear to my eye to see the DASL love

No it's true! The IPFS foundation has none of the original protocol designers tho. For people who need to talk to/grant/consult specialists in IPFS mainnet and gateways and stuff, the OGs and maintainers are in ipshipyard.com. foundation coordinates between dasl, ATP, iroh, and IPFS /shipyard.

We are the core maintainers of IPFS, libp2p, and other foundational open-source web3 primitives.

I use a layer 2 analogy for people with Blockchain brains: all iroh data can be translated down to "layer 1" IPFS at checkpoints

I frame it more as a performant permissioned partial implementation that compromises on interop but burns rubber if you don't need compat with the public IPFS DHT. In some use cases where all parties just need to syncwith each other. Interop is partial but everything is tradeoffs in protocol design

If you just need a client the newer service worker form Factor might help, you can just run it in browser. Load time a little slow and CORS stuff a little finicky but your browser can verify hashes and fetch from DHT easy peasy

Like all decentralized tech, they put it out there in v0.9 for a few years and documented it thoroughly (if confusingly), and users found it without telling us. With recently added metrics we're finding lots of these unannounced non pirate and nonweb3 use cases are a huge chunk of the network!

Glad to set up a call if you'd like to discuss it. Currently a little slammed meeting with IPFS users at an Ethereum conference but next week I'm back in EU Office hours
