Update:

Both CBSA and Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree are refusing to show any accountability for the Government of Canada detaining and interrogating a 95 year old Princeton law professor in what appears to be a politically motivated abuse of power

I don’t mind the idea of AI doing my dishes because that’s the stuff I want to be disrupted.

But it doesn’t have to look human to do this! Look at our little roombas. They do a good little job, and should they turn evil, and it would be hard for them to punch us in the face.

It's Whitlam season, enjoy.

(Additional context: article author John Menadue worked under both Gough Whitlam and Rupert Murdoch, so when he speaks... it pays to listen)

Murdoch, the Dismissal and my job in Japan
Rupert Murdoch played a critical role in the Dismissal. He knew how to bring pressure on Kerr and provided strong support for Malcolm Fraser.

This came across my timeline again, so I'm going to reiterate that our investors are going to need you to stop telling the truth...
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

as a girl with a PhD in natural language processing and machine learning it's actually offensive to me when you say "we don't know how LLMs work so they might be conscious"

I didn't spend 10 years in mines of academia to be told ignorance is morally equal knowledge.

We know exactly how LLMs work.

Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.

This is pretty wild reading & if you like me are a gym enthusiast who knocks back a protein shake or 3 throughout the week & thought plant protein was better for your body than whey, probably important to read!
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

We could have had cancer vaccines, and instead the United States will contribute nothing whatsoever to mRNA research, condemning millions of people worldwide to unnecessary illness and death
