Love to see it. Appointed by President Carter, Judge Myron Thompson is the first and only Black lifetime judge to ever serve on the Middle District of Alabama, home to historic Montgomery, after the Senate refused to confirm civil rights icon Fred Gray to the court in 1980.
BREAKING: Judge Myron Thompson declares Alabama A.G. Steve Marshall's threatened abortion-fund prosecutions unconstitutional.

Yellowhammer Fund and healthcare providers sued; Thompson ruled that Marshall violated the right to travel and the First Amendment with his threats.

Tonight, at Law Dork:
Breaking: Federal court rules Alabama AG's threatened abortion-fund prosecutions unconstitutional
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall had threatened to prosecute those who help Alabamians get abortions in states where they would be legal.

And even if *Trump* could be trusted, the law is subject to a five year statute of limitations. Trump’s successor could go after them for violating the law — which provides for massive penalties.
Apple and Google would be absolute idiots to trust Trump on this. Whatever his EO says, they would be in violation of a duly enacted law if they continue to carry TikTok…which means that they would be under a sword of Damocles and Trump would have leverage over them for anything else he wants
Trump’s TikTok executive order is out - it directs the DOJ to promise app stores and services providers that it won’t enforce the law for 75 more days. And in true incoherent Trump fashion, it then also says the EO is not an enforceable promise here in 3(c). Perfect. www.theverge.com/2025/1/20/24...

And, finally, all of this when combined leads to the most important point:

Wait to see what is in writing. What Trump and aides say, even at signing ceremonies and in announcements often differs from what the order, memo, directive, rule, guidance, or policy actually says.

The Equal Rights Amendment Explained
Thirty-eight states have finally ratified the ERA, but whether its protections for women’s rights are actually added to the Constitution remains an open question.
