Even after the sack of Rome, it took 66 more years for the Western Roman Empire to fall. The East hung on for almost 1000 years more.

I think it’s in a period of economic decline, and its influence on the international stage is seriously waning for the first time since WW2, but I think that will lead to hard power increasingly being used to replace the lost soft power. I don’t see a ‘winds of change’ self-dismantling any time soon

I genuinely wish I beleived that the American Empire is collapsing but I genuinely don't see evidence of it.

It's in a period of decline to be sure, and it's pretty evident at this juncture that the US has transituoned fully to a single-party autocracy but it ain't going away.

I get that it's interesting to see that people post from different places then they claim but I absolutely beg you to engage in some critical thinking.
I don't think Elon Musk's garbage website is a good source for discovering where someone lives.

Find someone who looks at you like Mark Carney looks at fascists 🥰
The last time Carney met with a world leader and had so much love in his eyes was when he met neofascist Giorgia Meloni at the G7 meeting in Canada.

I tell ya, the Liberals™️ are scary these days. Carney acting like a soulless banker, sure that was a given.

The party and its supporters though... They did a full 180 in whatever they call their politics and act like they always believed the diametrically opposate thing they beleived last year.

Think it's weird he's rewarding the guy who was spying on one of Carney's political rivals during the election he won?

I do.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I met at the G20 Summit today, and launched negotiations for a trade deal that could more than double our trade to $70 billion.

India is the world’s fifth largest economy, and that means big new opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses.

I guess sending spies after Carney's political opponents is richly rewarded.

You shouldn't have to say the word "feminist" to prove you're a feminist. Good for him. Trudeau's constant preaching was getting annoying.

There's likely a decent argument for sedition in it to be quite honest.

Morally justified sedition to be sure.

Russia did the Gaza War is peak social media performance.
Been far worse if he was impeached.
It was absolutely necessary Biden stayed in power at all costs.
It wasn't about personal protection, it was about protecting the country from the complete takeover we now see.
The Gaza war was concocted by Russia, Iran and Netanyahu to get Trump elected.

This poster is what happens when you don't treat the Confederacy like they deserved.
Let's not rewrite history here (amateur historian here.)

Jefferson was not "obscenely" rich. He was wealthy yes, but John Hancock was the wealthiest Founder.

Jefferson kept his slaves to protect them. While married in the U.S, in Paris his slave Sally Hemmings was "the madam of the house."

It's wild reading about WW1 and that period more generally and see how young and comparatively uneducated people were.

Pte Bloggins, 21, left his job managing funds at the chamber of commerce and his family of 4 to go to Flanders or whatever.

The denial of self-determination to trans kids is rooted in the notion of children as property. Victorian parents lost their shit over the idea that they can't send their 5 yo to work in the mines, and that’s the origin of "parental rights"—a reactionary assertion that parents own their kids’ bodies
