Mostly reposts. This seems to have become my angry-reposting account since there's no CW feature here anyway and I'm less comfortable being pointlessly chatty here. UK pol, trans rights, Covid caution, etc.

My mum’s town has flags all over the place am I allowed to fear for her safety? Does anyone care many people of colour are actually thinking of other countries to live, including me despite living in the relative safety of London?

When it comes to intimidating racist protests including outside our homes or place of worship, Black and Asian people are supposed to just accept it and the government saying “we hear you” and “it is right to protest this” and “I love flags me”. No thought of “cumulative impact” for us!
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

🇵🇱🗳️🇩🇪 DW reports that support for AfD among Germans with immigrant background is strongest amongst arrivals from Poland - stark reminder that there's no such thing as solidarity among immigrants and promises of getting brown and black people out will resonate with CEE/EE folks.

Precious People,
Every day that goes by we are distracted by the “shock and awe” of an orange fascism. Focus now on your health, finances & family. No need to tune into the circus and watch the clowns. Prepare for loss of insurance and income. Prepare for the war that has been declared on us.

I didn't realize she was rambling on about how poor she was again until I saw my analytics spike on this video. If you want to know what Joanne used to say about her poverty before she started stretching the truth - this is it.

Any positive emotion is anathema to fascism. Creating or finding joy is resistance. They want us hopeless, don’t give them what they want.

It just clicked for me in a more concise way.

White people gaslight themselves into expecting the best from other white people.

Black people have been conditioned by history and experience to expect the worst from white people.

This is why everyone should LISTEN TO BLACK PEOPLE!!!

🚨BREAKING

40 years ago Margaret Thatcher abolished rent controls in Scotland.

The Scottish Parliament just passed a Bill introduced by the Scottish Greens, which will allow them once more!

This will keep rents affordable and offer safety and stability to renters. 🙌

We are at Labour conference, telling members about the impact of the proposed bathroom ban. It would devastate trans people’s lives, create unworkable business challenges, and alienate voters.

This would be Labour’s legacy on LGBT+ rights for a generation. But it’s not too late for them to stop it.

You'll know Britain has a genuinely progressive government when the Prime Minister issues an official apology on behalf of the British state for the demeaning, dehumanising, racist treatment it has meted out to migrant communities over the decades.
Labour looking at Reform's racist policies and saying "we"ll have some of that". These aren't just discriminatory, by making migrants meet higher standards than the average person, they automatically treat migrants as if they are criminals on community service.

The worst part of racism isn't the racists, it's all your white friends who are either shocked or can't believe racism and microaggressions happen on a regular basis.

I lived next to a racist neighbour in SW1. I'd tell friends what was going on: friends told me it was "energy related."

And for any White folks who come out to insist "we should all be helping each other" or some other "colorblind" bullshit:

Take a moment to think about when was the last time a person of color needed you to explain a White topic for them. It likely approaches never, and you should think about why.
I need to make this post so I can reply/quote with it in the future:

If you are White and you do not know something about non-White topics, your first responsibility should be to google for information before pestering non-White people to teach you. It is not our job to correct your ignorance.

Wearing a mask is an act of resistance.

It helps protect your health and the health of those around you.

It tells the government you don’t believe anyone is expendable.

It says you value community care.

It shows solidarity with the disability community.

Covid is not over.

I have come to the conclusion the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces should not even come to Parliament. It is misleading and has caused distress for my trans constituents.

I urge @bphillipsonMP to reject it on grounds of practicality and human rights.

One of the unexpected things I've learned from my advocacy for trans people is how malignant parts of the State can be, how it can misuse data for positively evil purposes. It's taught me people can't be safe with a digital ID card and so I've signed this. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73...
Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.

To those asking, the NHS has misused gender care waiting lists to target families with social services referrals - and even police action - for doing something lawful, and in much of the world entirely orthodox, out of love for their child. It's ideologically driven targeting by the State and evil.

Dear trans kids:

There's so much love in the world. I know you mostly see the hate and the struggle and the cruelty, but there is such love too, and like all beauty, it is quiet.

But it is there, waiting for you to find it.

It's alarming how many people need to hear this: racism is not the natural and inevitable response to the presence of (the wrong number of) racialised Others. It is a learned response, and as such it is contestable and replaceable.

This is anti-racism 101. Entry level stuff.
This is first time I’ve heard the govt making the Labour argument for controlling immigration.

Mahmood argues that controlling our borders is good for race relations, because uncontrolled immigration is feeding far right rhetoric and tensions.

Expect to hear a lot more of that.

There’s a nurse on TikTok claiming a pregnant woman is on a ventilator & going to die from overdosing on Tylenol to “prove Trump wrong”

I’ve got no idea if it’s true… but please remember the acetaminophen limits. They could save your life and your liver
