Just now: The plaintiffs who were arguing that Utah GOP's congressional map is illegal won in court.

The judge orders one of the two maps submitted by the plaintiffs ('map 1') be used.

The ruling, if it stands, guarantees that Democrats will pick up a congressional seat in Utah next year.

I did not realize there was a day for this. I'm glad I did not miss it this year!

As you begin budgeting for Black Friday, consider shopping locally as much as possible. Many small retailers (especially hobby shops, game stores, and comics shops) run *barely* in the black until the holidays, at which point they make all the profits that will keep them solvent next year.

We got the answer: the tab is for keeping the spoon aligned and soft-locked in a dispensing station so a nurse can pull it out with one hand and only touch the handle.

The wrong answers were delightful, though.
What is up with the shape of this spoon? It's a hospital spoon (no emergency, simple procedure).

Actual answer. The spoons come from a dispensing machine.
Costco has similar ones near here, and it's to stop the utensil from coming out of the dispenser any further than that so only the handle is exposed to anyone's hands

Winner!
I mean, I assume that's a crossguard for the inevitable hospital spoon duels

I crashed pretty hard today, and had to choose between sitting in the chair and making comics or feeding myself.

I chose work, and Sandra very lovingly stepped up and took care of the food thing. It turned out fine. The fried chicken was delicious, and I laid out & pre-lettered two full pages.

In a big-box store the "must engage, must smile" is misery wrought upon employees and customers alike.

In a small shop, like a comics and games store, genuine engagement from the lone human at the counter is kind of nice. It might just be waving hello, it might be "I'm over here if you need help."
Obviously this is ridiculous as a policy for employees but also as a customer my blanket preference from any people working in any store anywhere ever is “leave me the absolute fuck alone”

Smiling?? Eye contact?? TALKING TO ME???? Absolutely not!!!!
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

One really cool thing about being the writer AND illustrator for a comic book is that the writer→illustrator feedback loop is fast and extremely efficient. The writer passes the script to the illustrator who begins laying out pages, which the writer can instantly see and have ideas about.

I am super susceptible to food suggestions.

If there's a burger in a movie, I want a burger. If there's an article about bread recipes, I need to eat some bread.

It's bad, folks. I don't much like cake, but IS IT CAKE will make me hangry for cake.

One of the spot checks I run when formatting text for titles or stuff is to make sure I haven't stacked identical letters or letter combos above one another. It looks weird, and I scoot things to fix it.

Yet somehow STRANGER THINGS gets away with it.

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.
