I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

Mass revolt from queer authors in the UK after a major LGBTQ+ writing prize longlisted a self-proclaimed TERF.

11 authors and 2 judges have withdrawn from the Polari Prize. One of those withdrawals, that of June Thomas, is newly confirmed by our reporter, @evanurquhart.bsky.social.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Corporate Dems being outflanked on the left by Bill Kristol - who is saying what should be obvious.
Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

"[Issue x] is a distraction!" is a corrosive outlook. All outrages are important to fight. Nobody can fight them all, but together we can cover them all.

You telling somebody who is fighting an issue that you aren't fighting that what they're doing is a distraction is a distraction. Stop.

I mean, the ‘DEI Madness” resulted in no mid-air collisions in 16 years. It was only until Trump got re-elected, fired the FAA director, didn’t hire a new one, and froze the hiring of new air traffic controllers that we had another tragedy in the air within a week.

If we are going to quote Hannah Arendt - I’m going to do the longer and more meaningful one for me:

And if you must, fucking tag/alt text it so content moderation works. Forcing others to see that is really disgusting.
Hi you don’t have to post it. And you don’t have to re-post it.

And you can think about the fact that Jewish people are gonna be traumatized every single time you make us see it over and over and over and over.

You can just not post it.

Underlining, we actually should call people who use DEI as a slur segregationists as a norm.Talk plainly. The mealy mouth defense of diversity rather than simply talking about reparation, repair,& representation is what got us here.No more ambivalent euphemisms.Values, at full volume.

So disgusting and hateful and from a craven asshole.
Meta’s new guidelines prohibit insults about someone’s intellect or mental illness, as have previous iterations. But the guidelines now include a caveat for accusing LGBTQ people of being mentally ill because they are gay or transgender.

Meta’s changes to its hate speech guidelines were among broader policy shifts the company made to its moderation practices.

Why are US oligarchs so anxious to cultivate the kinds of relationships with the president that, in the country they’re aping, have led to oligarchs “falling out of windows” and such? To the point where there’s a whole Wikipedia page on the topic? Who wants to live in a place like that?
