Beta /alpha read. It’s valuable feedback to get but also I’ve learned from having to think critically to give useful feedback. I’d never done it before this year and I’m on my 7th read now.

Work has been busy for a ~while~ and I would love to just turn my brain off and watch baseball but it’s over for the season. Hoping to revisit my manuscript over the 4 day thanksgiving weekend when I’m mentally recharged.

Hard to say - I write a lot for my job (corporate marketing) so when I feel this it’s usually when I’m drained from work in general. Maybe I would experience this less if I worked in a different field or one day when I’m retired/between jobs or something

I read The Grapes of Wrath immediately after graduating college and while job hunting and though I did not move for seasonal farm work, I still felt seen by the pursuit of employment. Very relevant timing. One I should re read with even more perspective nearly a decade later.
The antagonist is kind of a person - the MMC’s mom - but really more fear of having to set boundaries with her based on her past actions
This time at least I didn’t try to go for the half body image and I had time to add color to the garment 🤣

I realized I know very few actors who are age 20 so I pulled a classic Hollywood and this crew is a little older but close enough!

I’ve acted in over 10 plays, plus participated in an improv troupe for years, and my bachelors degree has a minor in Theatre.
Chain Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah is an absolute masterpiece and gripping read especially for a debut novel.

This is tough because I don’t re read books often so when I do, it feels like reading it for the first time. Maybe The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or The Grapes of Wrath for different reasons.

I got my revisions done that I needed! I am going to ask someone to take a pass and let them sit for a bit, and try not to stress too much about if they are "perfect" or not but did shave 1,600 words/1.8% off the whole manuscript so it's a tighter read for sure. #amwriting #amrevising

I didn’t finish a book on Libby on time and for the first time saw this courtesy like, 45 minute extension to keep reading, how nice
Naturally the book has an 18!! week wait and no hard copies at any of the branches near me so I might buy it

"Superglue" by Role Model - I heard this song on the local Fordham University student radio station and was like, wow! This really hits home for baseball season when Emerson is away a lot back to back while Valeria handles what's going on in her plotline.

Wow, I shaved 3% off two chapters in a row, and decided to work back in a line I had cut before that I ended up really liking. This is why we do multiple editing passes before we lock it in, I guess. #amwriting

I got 6/34 chapters done AND figured out what to vote for in the election tomorrow. 11 more chapters to go on this pass and reworking 3 chapters this weekend!
I worked, went to the gym, showered (AND washed hair), ate dinner, cut the cat's nails (most of them) and now it's 7:41 PM and I am going to lock in and revise MULTIPLE chapters tonight while my husband and I both have independent creative time. Go time #amrevising
