This year Severance (and Andor) made me feel like maybe we've developed the tools to express late stage capitalism's relationship to fascism in a way that might make a cultural impact. #Emmys

Shameful to see a creator fired off a book and the whole series immediately cancelled on the same day because she was glib about the murder of someone who famously said that people like her should be stoned to death.

"but we can't support trans rights, it's unpopular!"

just a reminder that US approval for marriage between black and white people at the start of the civil rights movement was 4%, reaching a whopping 20% by the end of the movement

it's 95% now

you don't wait for popularity for a rights movement

I don't want to start a thing so I'll just say that there will never be a good argument for privatizing USPS. That would be like privatizing libraries. The aim of services isn't to be run for profit, they are for serving the greater good, which USPS has been extremely successful at.

The Bills are my favorite AFC team, but I have less patience for watching bad defense than I used to and I didn't believe they'd figure themselves out tonight. I turned the game off. Good on them for proving me and everyone wrong.

Casten has vaulted up the leaderboard today to become my favorite Member of Congress on this app. Quality updates in real time. Plain language, not talking down to us, nothing that feels written for him by Booker. Do follow.
OK, time for another update. 12:20 AM right now. They did finally pass the Foxx amendment, then called a 5 minute vote on the rule. It is still open, but at least as of now looks like it is going to fail.

Every year I use my parents' insistence on buying me dinner to gently push them to eat food they don't usually eat. This year I suggested hot pot, and my mom has informed me that she's not feeling up to it. Over 24 hours in advance. Honestly I did not expect this to be where she drew the line.
