In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

one of my favorite houses ☺️
Nestled in dense woodland in West Cornwall, the Forest House (1975) by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson elevates gracefully on concrete piers above boulders, clad in green-stained timber and framed by bold red industrial glazing to merge architecture seamlessly with nature.

“Well, right now I’m finding mediocrity, we’re drowning in mediocrity. The quantity of movies that are made today, literally globally, millions. There’s not thousands, there’s millions, and most of it is shit.”

September rainfalls: CoCoRaHS citizen science summaries confirm another very dry month. Most locations well below the 90-120mm normals... blue stations less than 50 percent of normal. Again the Annapolis Valley was remarkably dry.

New Brunswick students are consistently a grade level or more behind other those provinces in mathematics at age 15. That’s barely discussed and mostly accepted

A mom in Moncton doesn’t like the meat served in the cafeteria? Media coverage, immediate action by the school district, media follow-up.
The parents in my kids' school district will flip their lid when we're told that all the meat served in our schools is Halal but won't bat an eye of news reports of consistently mediocre results in French comprehension at the grade 8 level. Smdh.

Hey, Microsoft Office users: you may know this already, but MS is pushing out AI in all its Office/365 subs, and quietly raising the price to do so.
Log into your account, and Cancel your sub, and built into the process after you click Cancel is option to switch to AI-free version.
