I am still mad that DLW wouldn't let me take the train to Anaheim this summer, but I see her point. "Oh freight has right of way, that's why passenger rail is so slow" WELL BUILD MORE TRACKS THEN. PREFERABLY OUT OF MELTED DOWN CARS.
OMG you cannot even take a train from Milwaukee to Nashville??? We are not a serious country.

Every argument against removing 794 is basically just some version of people being unable to imagine our city being better.

The tags at the bottom of this ruin the joke IMO. Buuuuuuut. Still recommend.
"Of course, it doesn’t feel right to want IT to HAPPEN. And it’s obviously not okay to try to make IT HAPPEN. That’s not what this is ABOUT, just to make things CLEAR LEGALLY as far as VARIOUS AGENCIES are concerned."

Every complaint by a "Conservative critic" in this article can be reduced to "The new formula doesn't drag Milwaukee Public Schools through the mud enough for my liking". urbanmilwaukee.com/2025/11/12/m...
Most Wisconsin Schools Meet or Exceed Expectations on State Report Cards
But critics say DPI report leave parents guessing about which schools are best.

i know a lot of people have valid concerns about the mods here but you simply cannot be mad that they don't allow death threats lol

In order, my reactions to this take:
1) Right on, Milwaukee obviously hates pedestrians
2) Well wait, it costs money to get these bitty plows to get sidewalks, DPW doesn't have unlimited budget
3) Oh that is a good point WAIT NO IT ISN'T THE STATE SHOULD GIVE MILWAUKEE BACK MORE MONEY FOR THIS
This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

Also, I fully support this. Back when I was a kid and my parents WEREN'T afraid to take my brother and me downtown, that place was a highlight of any such trip. Third Street Market Hall could never (sorry Milwaukee).

NOT-SO-FUN FACT: My parents, who have both lived in Chicagoland for over 50 years (and in my mom's case was born and raised in West Rogers Park!) won't go downtown anymore because they believe this. They are not MAGA whatsoever but disinformation is still a hell of a drug.
Business rent is way too high on Mag (not Miracle) Mile so companies are just shuffling around. H&M moved two blocks down the road to save cash.

He's blaming "murder and crime" in one of the safest parts of the city because the real problem is "landlords." Almost like that's the whole gambit.
Call in the troops to solve the commercial real estate crisis in our swanky downtown cores

You can’t make this shit up, folks

You know the deal is bad for Dems when even JONATHAN FREAKIN' CHAIT is dunking on it.
"Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown, and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall," writes Jonathan Chait. Instead, he argues, they're making a mistake by giving in:
Senate Democrats Just Made a Huge Mistake
The shutdown was hurting Trump. Ending it helps him.

Take it from the records manager, this ALWAYS* works to document official activities even when records creators DON'T have ulterior motives.

*never. It literally never works, which is the whole reason server-side archiving is a thing
DHS confirmed it has stopped automatically storing officials' text messages.

Instead, officials are supposed to take a screenshot, send that to their work email, download it onto their work computer and run a text-recognition program on it. Every time.

LITTLE-KNOWN MISHNA FACT*: in the original Aramaic, Shammai chases off the Roman wishing to learn all of Torah standing on one foot with a sub sandwich, NOT a builder's rule.

*this fact is little-known because it is not actually true
It's been less than 48 hours since Mamdani was elected, and already violent sandwich-based criminals are being released onto the streets of Washington, DC. I hope you're all happy with yourselves.

Milwaukee's Socialist Mayors were great. Now let's check in on the record of their immediate successor, Democrat Henry Maier. *checks* Oh. Oh no
Emil Seidel (1910-1912), Daniel Hoan (1916-1940), & Frank Zeidler (1948-1960) have likely impacted your life in ways you never think about, even if you’ve never stepped foot in Milwaukee.

And if city governments are laboratories of democracy, then the Cream City has been research central!
friendly reminder that socialist mayors governed Milwaukee for nearly half a century from 1910-1960

during this time Milwaukee achieved milestones such as being the healthiest, safest, and best-governed city in America
