i need this fix:

when i’m listening to something on an app (music, audiobook, etc) and an alarm or timer goes off, the audio app stops

it doesn’t pause, it stops like someone hit ’stop’ and exited the app

then i have to unlock my phone, navigate to the app, and restart what i was listening to

For those not be aware, the Chicago Committee on Immigrant & Refugee Rights has a form you can fill out to report potential violations of the Welcoming City Ordinance (i.e., assisiting federal agents w/ immigration enforcement) by CPD officers or other city employees:

This Facebook live from someone following agents from a safe distance then immediately cut off as a cop got out of his car and approached the driver.

In a way this is historical, you can get a feel for what it was like to be in court during the last years of a king slowly going mad from mercury poisoning or syphilis - I imagine those people frequently got invited to an airing of the grievances

when I use one of these apps (which is not often), the delivery person gets tipped cash in hand at my door 💵
I know this is small peanuts but I have to complain about this again. The way that DoorDash makes it hard to tip NYC delivery drivers is so disgusting to me. I wrote this last year and sort of forgot about it — until tonight, when I ran into the same issue.

DoorDash won’t let you tip NYC drivers without the app
On web, there’s no way to easily tip DoorDash drivers.

whoa: she “is the sister of Darnella Frazier, who as a teenager in 2020 recorded the bystander video of George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police.”
Federal public defender Jean Brandl represents Frazier, who’s Black, and said her client did not know the agents were law enforcement.

“She literally went to the police station because an unidentified white man was in her car and she didn’t know what he was doing there,” Brandl said.

LLMs/chatbot are (only?) good at language-based things

for example, transcribing handwritten genealogy records in old German, or chatting in A2 french

unfortunately too many people treat them like search engines or answerboxes

I have found that the only answers they have are related to grammar
Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

If your guests test w/rapids twice before the event, 48 hours apart, it’ll catch 63% of Covid cases even if they have no symptoms. Testing 3x improves that to 79%!

Looking for an *L.A. based* artist who (against all odds) has time for a poster gig before the end of the year.

It's for a science + art event.

We can offer $500 for the gig.

Dreadfully sorry about the timeline. Link a portfolio if you're interested, I'll delete this post when we found someone.
