one solution to the internal cringey feeling of self-promotion is to put together a group that will promote each others’ work

(not sure if the apostrophe belongs there but i’m keeping it)
Self promo is my bane; it makes me feel like an immense tit when I post stuff about my writing (thanks to upbringing - never blow your own horn), but it is increasingly apparent that all it means is that I'm utterly invisible as a writer...

So, anyway.

I have books and stories out there.

I'm editing an anthology about unlikable characters and seeking work from younger writers, 15-21. If you know of one such writer who might want to submit their work for consideration, please share this call for submissions: audacity.substack.com/p/acquired-t...

This is what you're actually looking at, btw. An exceptionally cool piece by David Wallace Haskins called Image Continuous. 3 sides are mirrors, but the 4th is this, a view of the sky framed by a reflection of the woods. It is ever changing, ever responsive to the conditions above & around the cube.

The owner of this business is a old, wonderful friend & a former employer of mine, so please, I need all of my Pacific Northwest followers keeping an eye out for this stuff, especially if you run in nerd circles, so that his dream business, built via decades of grinding, can keep running.
KIRO 7 ran an article and two TV pieces on the theft of a box truck full of arcade PCBs, artwork, and machines from my workplace yesterday. If anyone in the Seattle area sees someone offloading a ton of CPS2/NAOMI/Neo Geo PCBs, stuff of that nature, please reach out.

my entire career has been:
(a) DIY, and
(b) facilitating DIY
and at some point about 8 years ago a slow pivot started to happen where people just wanted to become employees(why?!) and I’m hoping the tide will turn back to DIY
Growing up in a time when “selling out” was the most shameful thing you could do and then being forced to live through the 2020s feels like being kicked in the head by a horse every day
