Wrote (my first blog post ever) about finally taking the leap to attend the Recurse Center!

This is your sign to quit your job and do the things you've been meaning to do if you have the means, it feels really good

A new chapter at the Recurse Center
I just left my job of roughly 3 1/2 years last Friday to go be a massive nerd at the Recurse Center (a self-directed programming retreat in downtown Brooklyn) and I could not be more excited about it.

This week's article! It's about our current uh... issues regarding moderation on this site, and aims to explain why this *keeps* happening in the tech industry:
Dewaffling the tech industry | deadSimpleTech
This raises so many questions. Does Bluesky have a communications team (apparently not)? Why do so many of the Bluesky staff treat their (very queer, very trans, very liberal) userbase with open conte...

This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

The US is becoming to akin to apartheid-era South Africa, where racialized groups needed a "passbook" to travel from one part of the country to the other. Who brings a passsport with them when they are traveling domestically?
Oh wow. Lanes on I-10 narrowed suddenly, forcing ALL drivers to exit at a weigh station.

A makeshift checkpoint—digital sign read: “Have Passport Ready”

1 of like 12 ICE agents, all standing around—in full military gear—ordered me to open my window:

“You a U.S. citizen?”
“Uh yes” then let me go..

This is a budget for a declaration of total war on the population. It's the building of an army of blackshirts and the creation of a massive system of concentration camps.

A crystallization of everything lurking below the surface of the American project.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

Voters: can you pay 50 cents more in taxes to pay for vegetables for children and agree not to defraud the elderly on their electrical bills

Wall Street Guy: OH LIKE THE KILLING FIELDS?!?! LIKE THE KHMER ROUGE?!?!
WATCH: “What about the rich? Do they get shot? It’s like they’re making Wall Streeters walk out onto the ice in the East River… class warfare… eat the rich.”

@cnbc.com hosts Joe Kernen & jim cramer hilariously struggle to process Zohran’s win — made inevitable by the greed they exalt.

I pitched the NYT on this and they passed cause "all democrats are good with LGBTQ people"
Zohran Mamdani is the only democrat in the mayoral race that released an LGBTQ platform and the only democrat in the country (that I know of) to commit to safeguarding gender affirming care for youth + adults with $$.

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
