Excellent. More councils need to start actively pursuing these flag-litterers for the costs of cleaning up after them. They make no secret of who they are, after all - there are gloating videos all over Facebook. @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social @oxfordclarion.bsky.social

Through his life and extraordinary talent, the immigrant and refugee child Tomáš Sträussler who became known to us all as Tom Stoppard made British theatre and this country a better place to be.

You might even argue that he helped redefine Englishness through his astonishing legacy of work.

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

So keep signing and sharing, because we need to show MPs that there's a huge demand.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

This was raised in Parliament today. All over Radio 4 too - talking about it while not daring to repeat what you said.
If it's any consolation, your accurate description of Donald Trump has now reached a wider audience than the lecture.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Here's a piece I wrote about mandatory training for all health & social care staff about working with people with learning disability & autism - the Oliver McGowan training. Women with LD die 23 years younger than other women, men 19 years younger - is this the answer?

Orwell is spinning in his grave. I think he wanted his works to be satire and warning, not prediction.
I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Tommy Robinson supporters are turning to Christianity, leaving the Church in a dilemma as their motivation isn’t based on a belief in God or Christian values

It’s using Christianity as a weapon against a perceived threat from Islam cultivated by Robinson, Farage etc

It’s Tommeh said be Christian🙄
Why Tommy Robinson supporters are turning to Christianity
The Church of England is grappling with what to do about followers of the far-right figure embracing faith.

Today is the 4th anniversary of the worst ever tragedy in the Channel.

At least 27 men, women & children drowned in the freezing water, & 4 more have never been found.

Since then, neither we nor the French have done a thing to offer people in this situation with real solutions.
