Maybe not top-10 on the list of “all that is wrong,” but masked ICE agents has to be near the top

If we’re going to pass laws making it harder for unarmed civilians to wear masks to fight a pandemic, we DEF need to make it harder for armed govt agents to wear masks while arresting elected officials
"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

Those accused of violent crime are entitled to due process in the US, an if convicted are serve their sentence in the US. This is not deportation, to be clear. She is talking about US citizens.
stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.
Leavitt confirmed that the WH is working on deporting US citizens to El Salvador

THREAD. The New York Mayor's race is going to be a smorgasbord of propaganda. And because a very progressive candidate is surging, we're going to see outlandish copaganda. But what the New York Times did last week is so subtle and insidious that it deserves special attention.

Hi, BlueSky. It's Hillary.

I've joined up here to help get the word out about an important election in Wisconsin tomorrow, and other ways to defend our democracy against those who think votes can be bought.

Amplify this.
Historian here:

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Ways to resist are everywhere if you’re looking for them.
Got my first "Violating an Executive Order" and "I'll make sure you lose federal funding" parent threat today for teaching "DEI" books in our upcoming "Liberty and Justice" themed unit. Even in "Blue" Massachusetts we're dealing with this.

Anyway, don't obey in advance, and don't obey later.

A casual observation from dinner: it makes people *uncomfortable* to hear the words “we are currently in a racist and authoritarian government,” however, we have to keep sounding the alarm bells. People have to wake up to reality - the sooner, the better.

I was a shop steward for National Association of Letter Carriers. That was always the 1st thing to tell ppl. If they want you to do something you think is against the law/contract, ask for it in writing, signed & dated. It is amazing how often management backs off instead of putting it down on paper

Have you been asked, as a federal worker, to do something you don't want to do? But they won't put it in writing?

DON'T DO IT.

If they're going to punish you? MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING. ALL OF IT.

Document, document, document.

Act confused. Be confused! Go slow. Require clarity. Lots. Document

Called @markey.senate.gov @warren.senate.gov and @whipkclark.bsky.social today, asking them to vote no on any appropriations bill (senators) and halt all action in Congress until Musk's illegal power grab is addressed. I told them I will support them in this.

Call your reps. You can do this.
Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

Even small acts of resistance are resistance!
I know you likely feel overwhelmed, so am I ... that's by design. They want us to feel alone, because as soon as we realize we are powerful together they will not win!

This perfectly sums up how I’ve been feeling lately. 💔
It's surreal doing all the "normal" things--watching my kid's soccer game, folding laundry, grocery shopping--in the middle of a kleptocratic coup.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

It would be fantastic if major federal institutions would acknowledge that the executive branch cannot legally unilaterally cancel or redistribute congressionally appropriated funding on ideological grounds and thus they have no legal obligation to comply with such directives

If the FAA director got fired over a business beef AND there was an air traffic controller hiring freeze despite huge shortages AND a chaotic blitz to hollow out federal bureaucracy, and then within a week the first American airliner crashes in 16 years, you would be insane not to talk about it all.

Is anybody going to ask the entirely relevant questions of Trump and his DEIA for incompetent Americans transportation chief Duffy if the freeze in hiring of these critical functionaries contributed to the accident?

Or is the mainstream “free press” gonna roll over for Trump like saps, again?
the first fatal commercial plane crash in 16 years happened just days after Trump froze hiring of air traffic controllers that were already stretched thin

Trump doesn't care if the economy crashes and communities suffer. His goal is to force you and your family to accept a lower standard of living while he and his friends get richer. Cutting support for law enforcement, schools, small businesses and firefighters is chaos by design.
President Trump’s order freezing trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans sent officials at schools, hospitals, nonprofit organizations and many others into a frantic scramble to understand the extent of the directive. Here's what to know.
Order to pause federal spending creates deep uncertainty for schools, nonprofits and companies.
