2026 has started rough for me, with a series of unfortunate events. But through these rough days, your response to Vile Lady Villains is giving me so much hope!

Authors: as a reminder if an agent requests a synopsis (not a query but a synopsis) that they expect spoilers. Not giving all the details doesn’t help you. It makes us question how the pieces come together and if they can even come together.
Spoilers are expected!

It’s a new year so let’s start an #AskAgent thread.
Post questions here and I’ll do my best to answer them all.
Leaving this open through the weekend.

Hey, I’m just a sapphic author who needs some help to get by in the new year. If you can’t contribute, can you boost? Every little bit helps 💖
I wish I didn’t have to do this, but I have no choice. I need some financial help to pay my rent and bills ASAP. You can also support me by buying books directly from my ebook shop as well: ko-fi.com/A356F63/goal...

A reminder that your book matters, regardless of bells, whistles, shinies, and accolades. It matters because a reader enjoyed it. Because maybe it inspires them. Because you put your heart on the page. Because you did a hard thing, and the act of doing it has changed you.

The issue is not that we don't talk to each other. It's that some people think that "talking" means getting to debate your existence, and that's abusive and controlling.
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

Saving Buddy Charles on Tubi is fantastic! It’s a YA novel in movie form.
The characters are wonderfully nuanced.
A must watch! 🩷

Reviews.

Reviews are free AND they are a gift to authors that can keep on giving (i.e., exposure, marketing, algo boosts, etc.)

Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!

Writers, especially those who write kidlit, I think we need to have a conversation about using parents not telling their child something to “protect them” and why this doesn’t really work especially today.
Does this happen? Yes. And do we see it continuing to happen? Yes.

Do you like books about liminal spaces, with lyrical prose? Books with heroines determined to rewrite their stories even if they have to throttle the narrative? How about sapphic books with lots of yearning, dark humor and lots of skeletons?

How about ALL the above in one book? 😈

Inbox trend I’m noticing in romance:
The two love interests have the same first letter in their name; and while this might not seem like a problem, when all one knows of the story is the query and synopsis it’s hard to remember who is who and things get confusing fast. Do w/ this info what you will

Do NOT waste your time with this one. It’s terrible! And not in a good way—it’s so bad it’s good. It’s just bad. 👎🏻
