I don't think that's really the case. They do look up track, and that will be a factor (not the only factor) they consider, but they won't ding you because your first publication wasn't super high-profile. #AskKidLit

Readers: keep buying, sharing, and talking about books, esp by marginalized authors. Put in purchase requests at your library. Buy from your local bookstore. Preorders are ideal. Don't wait for the series to finish before buying. Read widely and more often. Read trad pub, small press, and self-pub.

Super proud to see Steve Breen's SKY & TY 2: DINOMITE! on this list! we had so much fun working on this hilarious graphic novel chapter book about bet friends, family (sort of), not getting too big for your boots, and learning to soar.
