Multiple things can be possible at the same time. We can build a better world and experience joy in this one. Abandoning people to suffering is reactionary. Progressivism and socialism aren't vows of suffering. It's good to believe in something bigger and better than yourself.

A lot of Americans would love to talk about kitchen table issues, unfortunately the kitchen table is being used to barricade the front door because ICE is trying to illegally enter private property to arrest and detain them.

Why do headlines say "norms shattered" when what is meant is "laws broken" or "Constitution violated"?

It's not fascist to call fascists fascist.

It's not "dehumanizing" to say that terrorizing entire groups of people - which ICE does - is evil.

No executive order can change these facts.

However, people *can* mess things up for fascists by standing up for community and truth. Like this.
"No hate, no fear! Immigrants are welcome here!"

And The Lottery.
And The Parable of the Sower.
And The Hunger Games.

I know what I’m seeing.

One of the most remarkable things of the last 9 months is how many Americans seem to believe the President is all powerful and Congress has no say.
Actually Congress has been ineffective by choice. It has immense power if it had the courage to use it.

Here's the answer to why it's not available in New York. I don't really understand why CVS is giving the vaccine in some states but not others. Waiting on the dysfunctional RFK CDC at this point seems like medical malpractice.

Looks like the COVID vaccine is no longer easily available in many places, including NY, even for those who are eligible under the newly restrictive FDA guidelines (seniors, people with at least 1 health condition) Much confusion. What a mess. (Gift article)

Real leadership requires taking the lead on and educating voters about a danger they may not know about or understand immediately it means taking chances NEWSOM IS LEADING ON THIS

I'll keep saying this: We need a sustained, loud, and focused campaign against this SCOTUS, which is corrupt beyond repair, but loves to think its decisions are legitimate.

The right time for this was in 2001, and at many points between, but "civility" prevented action. The next best time is NOW.

Robert F Kennedy Jr is not a vaccine skeptic. Reporters and editors who’ve decided it’s somehow more fair to call him one instead of the anti-vaccine activist and lawyer he is should stop mischaracterizing him so… in the pursuit of accuracy.

It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.

Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap.

The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm.

Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.

History isn’t supposed to be comfortable. It’s supposed to be honest. We don’t learn from a past we pretend didn’t happen. Rewriting our history doesn’t protect us. It makes us weaker. And more likely to repeat the very mistakes they don’t want us to remember.
