I MOURNED when The Mill NE/Half Fancy closed. I spent countless nights at that bar, drooling over the best cocktails and meals I've ever had.
I loved that little alt dive so damn much that I bought one of the chalkboards in the liquidation out of desperation to keep a part of it around forever.
I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

Really fun and quirky that we are calling the AI workers "Agents" in the "Agentspace"
"Keep your friends close but your enemies closer" I whisper, forcing myself to watch the Google AI keynote to watch in real time how it will replace half of my daily capitalistic value

Reminded of how last year when I visited Ireland I saw more pro Palestinian signs, sentiment, and graffiti than I had ever seen in my life

an absolutely essential ingredient in a fascist backslide is liberals like Klobuchar siphoning off the energy of popular resistance movements while also just fully complying with with the fascists. She is not merely not solving the problem, she IS the problem.
Amy Klobuchar demanding to speak at the massive Hands Off Rally in Saint Paul and then spending the next week confirming Trump appointees is amazing. Just tremendous contempt for her constituents.

Some of these go so incredibly hard?
A look at the “Hands Off!” crowd at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul today. I'd guesstimate the number of protesters to be around 10,000.

from a neil postman essay i have been turning over and over in my head since i read it last summer. "to a person with a computer, everything looks like data" feels like the defining sentence of the 21st century.

This dirt saga is everything to me
Think of how poetic it would be to find some original I-94 trench dirt and put it back where it came from.
Some of the original I-94 dirt may have been dumped by Crosby Lake or near the Sibley Plaza area

With the amount of dirt being brought up in this meeting towards MNDoT I can't fathom a shortage of it
Melissa Barnes gets to the claim that at-grade options (removing the freeway) will allegedly increase pollution, noise, and "threaten wetlands" and the room erupts

She says, "We'd also need to find... a lot of dirt" and I think a bunch more people just got bingo

Incarcerated people make up a third of CA’s firefighting force, earning “between $2.90 and $5 a day … slightly more when actively fighting a fire.”

When compared to professionals: 4x more likely to be injured. 8x more likely to suffer from smoke inhalation.
