A reminder that after years of speaking out against Epstein and giving other survivors the courage to come forward, Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre died by suicide in April at the age of 41.

Let's not forget that there are real human tragedies behind everything we're discussing.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein's most prominent abuse survivors, dies by suicide
Other Epstein victims credited Giuffre with giving them the courage to speak out.

I've been glancing through the Timeline 191 books. After 20+ years, I didn't remember everything in them--not even close. Appalled to discover I had Jake Featherston talking about making the Confederacy great again at least 3 times.

There's a very interesting SF novel by Harry Turtledove, Guns of the South, about white 20th century South Africans time-traveling to Civil War America to help out "guess which side" with weapons & tech. No idea what's made me think of that.

Whole lot of this! Hard to be an early adopter of Homer or Herodotus or Shakespeare or Mark Twain or Hemingway, which doesn't mean you shouldn't have a look at what they've got to say.
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Fiction has to be plausible. History just has to happen.
