Another English politician declaring that he knows best what is good for Scotland. If Scots back the SNP, IndyRef2 should be on the table. It’s not for Starmer to rule it out unilaterally this early on. Especially after a decade of Tory intransigence.

I know mistakes and misinformation can creep in anywhere. But because the UK desperately needs to encourage people onto public transport rather than deter them from it, I’m going to shake my head and roll my eyes at such basic mistakes. 🙄

I don’t understand the sense of entitlement so many drivers exhibit. These cameras are there to enforce the law. If you don’t intend to break the law, what is the problem with them?

It’s weird. The USA has been happy for decades to be the world’s only superpower and has been happy to pay for the privilege. But now it’s randomly decided that the EU should also become a superpower. It might not be glad that it did.

I wish we could be a country that funds & builds transportation infrastructure for everyone, not just people in cars.

Forcing car dependency on most Americans was a bad choice.

If I didn’t respect the integrity of the British state, I’d have suggested that this whole affair was staged to undermine the SNP and the Independence movement.

Also, I don’t respect the integrity of the British state.

The modular nature of Dutch streets—precast bricks, pavers, and curbs—transforms every infrastructural upgrade into an opportunity for a liveability upgrade. In Delft, scheduled sewage pipe replacement on Eliza Dorus- and Anna Beijer-straten allowed for the creation of woonerven ("living streets").🧵

Right in the heart of the city what would be car parking in the UK is instead space for bike parking, greenery, and outdoor dining. When you make city centres safe and welcoming with cycle routes in every direction, you don't need endless car parks. Cities thrive when places are built for people.
