Someone tell Shabana Mahmood that the European court of human rights exists LITERALLY to tell governments when they're exploiting human rights, and this is not, in fact, a case to leave the ECHR, but a case for the government to go "oh shit, we fucked up"

As I said she's cartoonishly evil
The pretzel-shaped logic Labour bigots and the transphobic right-wing media twists itself into…

Apparently it’s the fault of Human Rights bodies that the UK might leave the ECHR, because they criticised the UK for its lack of human rights for trans people??? 🤔🤔🤔

re: all the Bluesky drama,

I see a bunch of people claiming “of course there’s no compassion, of course there’s no equality, they’re all tech people”…

And like, I’m not saying we’re all good people, but: isn’t this just people with power and capital? Are tech people worse than most C-levels?

there's a big problem with the culture here on bluesky, and it's that not nearly enough people are posting about the 10 year anniversary of Carly Rae Jepsen's groundbreaking and timeless album EMOTION being this year and how awesome that is

One of the most pernicious cissexual myths is that **trans ppl** are obsessed w gender when the average cis woman would never think of wearing a bow tie and the average cis man gets angry if he has to drink out of a coffee cup w too many dainty flowers glazed on it.
trans people just want to be able to live their lives and cis people are like "due to this we need to do mandatory genital inspections to children playing sports". im sorry but the problem is cis people

To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.

When 100 thousand trans people rallied in London it was only worthy for the "local news" section.
Don’t recall BBC News leading with any of the myriad marches for Palestine, #PeoplesVote or #Rejoin. How very odd. How very strange. How very expected.

Is there anywhere good to get a corset in the #SFBA, especially as someone with a relatively small waist-to-hip ratio, and as someone who has never bought a corset before?

Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".

i think what bothers me most about how "terf island" has been used is that it implies there's some unique essential characteristic of the uk that's allowed trans rights to be rolled back so thoroughly. this can and will happen anywhere we let it

One of the first things you learn about trans competent primary care is how many of us routinely develop PVD, UTIs, and kidney stones from avoiding or not having access to bathrooms. As a fun bonus, the disinfo machine then uses this high prevalence to make mendacious claims about HRT.
If you cannot go to the bathroom at work, you cannot go to work. If you cannot go to the bathroom at school, you cannot go to school. This effectively bans transgender people from a broad swath of public life in the UK
🚨 BREAKING | Labour is set to impose a sweeping ban on trans people using any "single-sex space".

In EHRC guidance that Labour is set to approve, trans people will be barred from accessing toilets, gyms and changing rooms that match their gender.

This is… intriguing. As far as I’m aware, Stripe is still one of the payment processors used by OnlyFans — of course, some of this is volume, but also we don’t know how bespoke OnlyFans’ contract is (what rates are they paying? are they obliged to do cascading payments?).

The damning thing here, really, is using AI to select which submissions to pay attention to. (And okay, that may well be just rebranding of old ML stuff, but who knows.)

A random sample would be just about defensible. A selected sample is absolutely not.

So why does #Dublin Luas’s Cross City Green Line extension run on a loop around via Marlborough St rather than just go down O’Connell St in both directions? With the central division it looks wide enough for trams to turn, albeit not very fast…

The U.K. “online safety” act has had the consequence of censoring LGBT content and forums. This makes trans kids *less* safe. It means we can’t access any information about our community, healthcare or our lives without going through our parents.

This country is so deeply… cursed.

I have incredibly mixed feelings about digital credentials and the slippery slope of “well now it’s easy to require strong guarantees”, but in a country where so many sites now ask for photos of identity documents via unknown third parties, it doesn’t feel so bad…
