April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Every driver should absolutely #BuckleUp and put the #PhoneDown while driving

Hard to believe NHTSA data that shows distracted driving involved crashes decreasing as a percent of fatal crashes over the last decade www.datawrapper.de/_/CLCle/

The National Bike Summit is one of my favorite conferences every year. It’s so inspiring to talk to advocates across the country who are getting more people on bikes and making streets safer for all.

Cheers to a fantastic Day 1 of #BikeSummit25, and kudos to the amazing @bikeleague.bsky.social team

A lot of excellent testimonies at DC Council's hearing on local transportation issues today.

As always, @jlrhart.bsky.social's passionate testimony was a beacon of inspiration, advocating for action to make streets safer for our children and families after years of backsliding on Vision Zero goals.

“I call it ‘my ride, my car.' I don’t have to interact with anybody, it’s gonna take me basically where I want to go, when I want to go there, and it’s all about my choice and I’m not dependent on your eyes to see what’s around me.” www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...
Why some Bay Area blind people say Waymos are changing their lives
Some sighted people say taking Waymos feels like a loss of control. Many blind people say the opposite.

Wirecutter just wrote an ode to my favorite lamp.

I love the IKEA orb lamp *almost* as much as all of my lava lamps (that’s a lot)

My IKEA globe lamp sits on my TV console, but it’d look great atop a side table, nestled on a shelf, and even in the kitchen.

Scene: my 2 y/o stares at bookshelf packed with CDs at in-laws’ house:

“it’s a book!”

> opens case, stares at plastic wafer

“I don’t like this one!”

> closes case, flings back

Fantastic presentation by Randy Clarke at the Capital Region Transportation Forum this morning.

WMATA is the jewel in the DMV’s crown. Amazing numbers for post-Covid recovery, crime and fare evasion down, steady ridership growth.
